Read the instructions below carefullyAssignment #3 – Adolescence (12-18 years)Total maximum is 6 pages, double-spaced (approximate guidelines about how much to write for each answer is noted beside each question). Be sure to reference the textbook, the course material, and at least 2 peer-reviewed research articles. Adolescence can be hard! Parents need to decide when to bring up and what to say about puberty; teens are exploring their own sexuality and peer relationships in general, and they are presented with many opportunities related to risk-taking, drugs, alcohol, social media, and more.Identify either: 1) an area of decision-making that a parent would have to make in these years (use your textbook to identify this area); or 2) a topic that a parent will likely have to discuss with their child in these years. What does the research tell us about your chosen topic? What does your own upbringing, knowledge, and experiences tell you? After critically analyzing the research and your own reflection, come to a final conclusion about what you would do if you were a parent and had to either 1) make a decision around your chosen topic, 2) or come up with what to say to your child to support them through the topic. Alternately, you can look at this same issue from a professional position (teacher, therapist, etc.) and decide your role in supporting an adolescent or family in this context. Suggestions for structuring the paper: Introduce the topic in a broad way, and position it in the Canadian context if possible. Be sure to include a clear statement about the topic of the paper and what you are aiming to accomplish (known as a “thesis statement”). (1 – 2 paragraphs)
Use 1-2 research articles to explain your topic. Be sure to think about this critically. What does the study include? Who were the participants? What is the research missing?(3-4 pages)
Reflect on your own knowledge, past experiences, upbringing, values. What other factors might influence your own decision-making on this topic? (1 page)
Conclusions: after considering all of the evidence (the research, your personal-level factors), what would you conclude? (1-2 paragraphs)
